Cuckoo Clocks

How to assemble your cuckoo clock:

  1. Carefully remove the clock and parts from carton and unwrap any loose accessories. Check that all parts are present:
    •    Top piece (if applicable)
    •    Weights
    •    Stag's head and antlers or other decoration (if applicable)
  2. Put the clock face down carefully and remove the back by pushing the back clamp or clamps to one side. Open the back panel by inserting a screwdriver into the top slot. Do not remove the chain bag under the clock yet.
  3. Carefully remove the paper under the chime spring on the inside of the back panel and also remove the wire clips from the bellows taking care not to pierce the bellows paper or bend any of the operating wires.
  4. Replace the back and secure with the clips so that it cannot come off.
  5. Turn the clock over and fasten the top carved piece using the clips provided (if applicable) and also the stag’s head and antlers (if applicable).
  6. Mount securely onto the wall using a screw that will be strong enough to hold the clock. Ensure that the clock is hanging level and is not tipped to one side.
  7. With the clock hanging level on the wall carefully unwrap the chains from the paper bag under the clock and completely remove the paper and wire. Do not turn the clock upside down at any time after removing the paper and wire, as the chains will detach from the driving cogs. Chains should hang freely through the bottom of the clock.
  8. Release the door (or doors if applicable) clip by pushing it to one side so the door can open freely during the operation of the clock.
  9. Hang the pendulum on the triangular wire loop and the pinecone weights on their weight hooks. The clock might now start to cuckoo. Do not stop this but allow the clock to finish as the strike mechanism is self-adjusting and will strike properly after the first hour.
  10. To set the time slowly turn the minute hand (longer hand) forwards until the correct time is shown allowing the clock to call the half hours and hours as it passes through the time cycle. Do not touch or move the hour hand during this operation.
  11. To start the clock gently push the pendulum to one side checking the clock is hanging straight by listening to the regular and evenly paced ‘tick-tock’ as it swings.
  12. The clock will come fully wound and you will notice that after a few hours the pinecone weights will have lowered and the rings of the chains have risen. To rewind simply pull gently on the chains to raise the weights up under the clock. Please note that the weights will not go down together. If the clock needs time adjustment move the pendulum motif upwards if the clock is loosing and downwards if the clock is gaining.
