Jewellers F. Hinds Raises Over £11,000.00 for Marie Curie Cancer Care
in the London to Paris Cycle Ride
to celebrate its 150th Year Anniversary
Jewellers F. Hinds celebrates 150 years of trading this year, and to mark this historic achievement six members of its staff from head office and the company’s stores completed the London to Paris Cycle Ride recently, raising over £11,000.00 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
"The original target had been £7,000.00, so we are delighted with this result”, said Neil Hinds, Director and a member of the cycling team, “it even makes going over the handlebars twice worth it."
The whole journey was a whopping 300 miles averaging about 80 miles per day starting from Greenwich in London, through the undulating (!) South Downs, and then from Calais all the way to the base of the Eiffel Tower in the very centre of Paris, where they were welcomed by an enthusiastic group of family, friends and F. Hinds supporters.
The team was made up of Neil Hinds and staff Derek Parkes, Garry Peaks, Melanie Essam, John Van DeBurgh and David Silk. The organiser, Ryan Pike, was unable to take part due to a knee injury but he was part of the welcoming committee under the Eiffel Tower.
All 108 F. Hinds stores across England and Wales have also sponsored the team, with completed forms and full collection tins now arriving. Any additional donations will be gratefully accepted no matter how big or small, with cheques made payable to 'F. Hinds Ltd.' and addressed to Ryan Pike at F. Hinds, 24 Park Road, Uxbridge, Middlesex UB8 1NH.
