The thought of piercing your ears can be a daunting idea, especially if you're a first timer and you don't know what to expect. It comes as no surprise to us that you'll have a few questions. But don't worry! We have compiled a list of our most common Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for you to have a read of. Plus, we're really experienced with ear piercing. In fact we've been providing our fantastic ear piercing service for over 50 years so we really know what we're doing!

Let's Start With The Basics

How much does it cost to get your ears pierced at F.Hinds?
The great thing about our ear piercing service is that you don't actually have to pay for the service itself, you just pay for the studs you choose. Our stud prices begin at £11.95. Click here to have a look at our collection and price range.

Does it hurt?
Getting your ears pierced is never a painless procedure, but it's definitely over quickly. Most of our customers describe the pain as a short sting or scratch. It really is over in seconds!

How old do you have to be to get your ears pierced?
The majority of our stores can pierce children ages 6 and over, but this can vary. It's best if you call your local store beforehand to make sure. You can use our Store Locator to find their telephone number.

The Piercing Process

Do I need to make an appointment to get my ears pierced?
You don't necessarily need to make an appointment, but it does help if you contact your chosen store beforehand. The store can ensure that the piercer is in and available on your desired day to avoid any disappointment.

What studs can I choose from?
We have a huge selection of different types of studs. You can choose from ball studs, flower studs, diamond studs, coloured cubic zirconia studs and many more. Click to take a look at our range of ear piercing studs.

What type of metal do you use in the studs?
Just like we sell different types of studs, we also have different metals for you to choose from. We sell titanium, 14ct yellow gold and white gold plus gold plated. If you're not sure of what metal to choose from speak to our trained piercers and they'll be able to advise you. Click to take a look at our range of ear piercing studs.

How long does the whole process take?
Not long at all! It'll take about 30 minutes from when you walk in the door to when you leave with sparkling new earrings!

What type of piercings do you do?
The majority of our stores only pierce the ear lobe but some stores will pierce ear cartilage. You can use our Store Locator to find your store and call them to ask. We don't pierce anywhere else on the body other than the ear.

Can I have my ears re-pierced?
If your old piercings have healed fully then you can definitely have your ears re-pierced. Our fab piercing staff will be able to tell you whether you can or not after a quick inspection.

Aftercare

How do I clean my piercing?
We've made this really easy for you by providing you with a free bottle of aftercare solution. It's a special lotion made especially for piercings! We recommend that you use a small amount of the lotion on a cotton bud and gently rub it around your piercing once or twice a day.

How long do I have to leave my studs in before changing them?
We recommend that you leave the studs in for at least 6 weeks. If you remove them earlier than this then you may upset the new piercings and cause them to get infected or take longer to heal.

How long will my ear piercings take to heal?
Ear lobe piercings take about 6 weeks to heal, but we recommend that you're still careful with them after this period.
