We now stock the new Fossil Sport Smartwatch!
With the release of the Fossil Sport, Fossil merged stylish design with practicality and function, creating a smartwatch that acts not only as a fitness tracker, but as a personal assistant too.
As soon as we got our hands on the Fossil Sport we knew that we’d have to write a blog post to show off all of its wonderful features, so here we are! Continue reading to get the low-down on how to use the smartwatch, how it looks and feels, the software, and how to make the most of the features during your workouts and everyday life.
Look and Feel
Before we get into the technical side of things, we thought we’d start by showing off the physical features first. There’s no doubt that Fossil have put a lot of time and effort into designing the Fossil Sport’s hardware. It’s sleek and neutral design is a pleasure to look at. There are two case sizes available so you can choose the 41mm or 43mm round case depending on the size of your wrist and what you’d prefer. The Fossil Sport is fitted with a comfortable silicone buckle strap too. Silicone is one of the most comfortable watch strap types because its soft and doesn’t rub against the skin.
The Touchscreen and Customizable Watch Faces
The Fossil Sport’s touchscreen is absolutely stunning, it’s very easy to use with its good-sized display. You can make your watch personal by customizing the touchscreen with a range of quirky and modern watch faces. It’s fun to play around with the different options and switch them to suit your mood in a matter of seconds.
Battery Power and Charging
One of the most important considerations when buying a smartwatch is battery power. If the watch doesn’t hold battery very well then that can be disappointing. The Fossil Sport’s battery is designed to get you through your day. It’s Fossil’s most efficient battery yet, giving you 24+ hours of touchscreen use (depending on usage).
The watch runs on the new and improved Snapdragon Wear 3100 Platform, making the smartwatch smooth functioning with its high-performance quad core A7 processor – it’s perfect for smartwatches! There’s also a battery saving mode that adds an extra 2 days of time display.
You’ll be surprised at how modern the superfast charger is too. The charger literally ‘snaps’ to the back of the watch with its magnets and charges your phone from 0-70% in just one hour. The charger can connect to a plug using the USB connection so you can charge up at your desk, in the car or at home.
Too busy to check your phone for important messages? No problem. The Fossil Sport connects to your smartphone using Bluetooth technology and displays your texts, emails, social notifications, app alerts and alarm clock. You can adjust the settings to show specific notifications, so if you don’t want to be bothered by social when you’re out and about then there’s no need to be.
Wear OS by Google™
We couldn’t wait to talk about the new Wear OS by Google™. Compatible with Android OS 4.4+ and iOS 9.3+, it has a range of features and capabilities.
There are what seems like hundreds of Google Apps available these days, and your Fossil Sport can connect with your other Google accounts like your Gmail account and your Google Calendar. If you want to use the Fossil Sport for workouts and exercise, then you’ll want to make use of the Google Fit, Google Fit Breathe and Google Fit Workout built-in apps too – this is where you can start, manage and see your workout progress.
For the smartwatch to function properly you need to download the Wear OS app. This is where you can control and manage many features of your watch including the Google Assistant feature, the display and your notifications. When it comes to working out, we recommend your download the Google Fit app too. This gives you another way to view your workouts as well as on your Fossil Sport.
Workouts with the Fossil Sport Smartwatch
From swimming to running and from badminton to yoga, The Google Fit app has the ability to track many different exercises and sports. The Fossil Sport really does have everything you could want and more when it comes to the workout and fitness features. Using the Google Fit app on the smartwatch and on your smartphone, you can track your steps, move minutes, heart points and your heart rate, as well as your workouts.
The Google Fit Breathe app might be something you didn’t know you needed after your workout! Cool down, meditate and have a rest with a two-minute guided breathing session no matter where you are. After each guided breathing session, the app will show you how you’ve done.
The Fossil Sport also has untethered GPS, so if you don’t want to take your phone with you on a run then it’s not a problem. Leave your phone at home and let your smartwatch do the work by tracking your run and playing your stored music to keep you in the zone.
So that’s our round up of the Fossil Sport’s main features.
