What is Amber?
Baltic Amber is a semi-precious organic gemstone formed from fossilised tree resin that dates back approximately 40 million years. This ancient resin originated from now-extinct conifer trees that once thrived in a vast forest where the Baltic Sea lies today. Over time, the resin fossilised and was carried by sea currents to the shore, where it is still collected by hand or fished from the water.

Natural Beauty & Unique Characteristics
Baltic Amber is typically opaque and most commonly found in warm tones such as orange, brown, and yellow. While it does occur in a variety of natural colours, rarer hues are more valuable due to their scarcity. To enhance its beauty, raw amber is often gently heated and polished, a process that can create unique internal patterns known as inclusions, deepen or alter the stone’s natural colour and highlight its individual character.
Jewels of the Ancient Earth
Some pieces of Baltic Amber contain preserved remnants from ancient ecosystems, offering a rare glimpse into prehistoric life. Some pieces have been found with tiny insects, tree bark and in extremely rare cases, lizards, bird feathers and even dinosaur-era remains!
Where Nature Becomes Legacy
For thousands of years, Baltic Amber has been treasured for its beauty and natural charm, especially in jewellery-making. Some believe that wearing amber can help reduce pain, inflammation, and negative energy - though these claims are not scientifically proven.
Whether admired for its aesthetics or its ancient origins, Baltic Amber remains a truly one-of-a-kind gemstone.
Caring For Your Amber Jewellery
As a softer gem, it can be more delicate than other stones, so a little extra care will help keep it looking its best for years to come.
To protect your amber jewellery:
-
Avoid wearing it during strenuous activities, while sleeping, or when doing household chores.
-
Keep it dry - water, soap, perfume, lotion, and other chemicals can damage the surface.
-
If your jewellery does get wet, gently dry it with a soft cloth as soon as possible.
-
When you're not wearing it, store it in a dry, padded box or pouch to prevent scratches or damage.
With proper care, your amber piece will stay as radiant and beautiful as the day you got it.
