With Valentine’s Day on the horizon, you may well be planning something romantic for your significant other – from a romantic evening dinner to a full blown, down-on-one-knee proposal you’ve had in the works for months.

Whether you’re whisking away your partner for a weekend break to Paris or keeping things closer to home, we wanted to imagine a series of engagement rings inspired by some of the world’s most romantic destinations – with a little help from technology, of course.

Using artificial intelligence, we’ve visualised how iconic getaway destinations would look in engagement ring form – here’s the results:

The Amalfi Coast

Italy’s Amalfi Coast is a popular destination, particularly for those looking to hop around several of Italy’s stunning coastal towns. The 50km stretch of coastline is known for colourful villages with narrow, picturesque streets. This colour is reflected in it’s AI-designed ring, with a dazzling purple gemstone drawing the eye.

Bali

Bali is a noted honeymoon destination, with lush beaches and spa treatments aplenty, it’s a perfect getaway after all the hullabaloo of a wedding. Tropical greenery forms the backdrop for this romantic destination, with the Indonesian island also host to volcanic mountains, coral reefs, and impressive religious sites. An engagement ring inspired by the location could look something like this:

Egypt

Taking inspiration from ancient Egyptian architecture and design, an AI-designed engagement ring representing Egypt incorporates ornate golden banding with a warm yellow gemstone, reflecting the grandeur of Egyptian history.

Iceland

Switching up from the golden desert sands of Egypt a little to the black sand beaches and glacier-cut fjords of Iceland gives us an emerald ring inspired by the colours present in the Northern Lights.

Kyoto

Japan’s cultural capital Kyoto has been labelled the ‘heart and soul’ of traditional Japan. Formerly the nation’s capital, and the official residence of Japanese emperors for over a thousand years, the city is tied to Japan’s wider history. For a Kyoto-inspired engagement ring, AI has taken inspiration from the cherry blossom – considered to be Japan’s national flower and a symbol of birth, death, and beauty.

New York City

With its gorgeous skyline and picturesque views, beautiful parks and of course countless romantic restaurants, there are a million ways that New York can be the perfect place for a loved-up occasion. The concrete jungle inspired ring features a large yellow stone, reminiscent of the bright lights of the bustling city.

Santorini

The Greek island of Santorini is increasingly a dream destination for couples, with glistening sea views, copious amounts of sun, and Mediterranean cuisine aplenty. The iconic white and blue buildings of the Cyclades Islands are represented with a large sapphire atop a silver ring

The Seychelles

Calm white-sand beaches and turquoise waters have made the Seychelles a relaxing getaway destination as well as an ultimate tropical honeymoon spot. Comprising 115 islands, the Seychelles plays host to every occasion and mood a jet setting couple could want – and when reflected in an engagement ring, AI has opted to visualise the clear blue skies, turquoise waters and white sand beaches in its ornate gemstone, set on a gold band to heighten the feeling of luxury.

Venice

The ‘floating city’ of Venice is one of Italy’s idyllic destinations for a romantic trip away – and AI clearly had a romantic gondola ride along the city’s waterways in mind when designing a Venice-inspired ring. Ornate aquamarines reflect the city’s famous canals, while the design itself evokes classic Venetian architecture.
