Engagement: Sarah and Sam’s Sublime Singapore Adventure

How Did It Happen?

Sam and Sarah were visiting friends and enjoying an escape in stunning Singapore. The two of them had secured an overnight stay in Kuala Lumpur, too, keen to explore the city during their travels. 

They had booked a premium suite that boasted beautiful views across Malaysia's magical capital. After Sarah finished getting ready for dinner, she entered their plush bedroom to find a surprise she would remember for the rest of her life. 

A readily-prepared picture of the pair’s puppies had been enlarged on the hotel’s widescreen TV, with a note from Sam to say “Sarah, will you marry me? xxx”. He then pulled out a bespoke ruby and diamond engagement ring and slid it onto her well-manicured finger.

They Celebrated in Style

Rather than going out to eat as planned, they ordered exquisite room service, basking in their newfound happiness and future wedding plans. The celebrations continued into the evening as they indulged in some rooftop cocktails, before sharing the brilliant news with their friends and loved ones back home.

The happy couple initially arranged to tie the knot in April 2021 but have since rescheduled due to the pandemic restrictions. Instead, they will say “I do” in August 2022, when they’re able to hold the wedding of their dreams, surrounded by all of the people they love the most.

Wedding Day: Stephen and Sandeep’s Secret Ceremony

Last year, Stephen and Sandeep wedded in true style (not that anyone knew it at the time). They originally planned on travelling to vibrant New York City, where they would exchange vows on their 10th anniversary. Unfortunately, the UK’s national lockdown meant that this wouldn’t be feasible, and their big day had to be postponed indefinitely. 

What Did They Do Next?

The pair began considering alternative arrangements at home. However, the ever-changing travel constraints made it hard for them to settle on any concrete plans. Things became even tougher in December when their home in County Durham was placed under Tier 3 rules (the strictest possible restrictions).
 
Finally, though, they decided to do something exceptional. After gaining special permission from their local MP, they eloped to Brighton and married in complete secrecy.
 
Although they had no guests in attendance, the florist and photographer were able to act as their witnesses. So, despite the difficult circumstances, this devoted couple was able to see out the year as husband and wife, just as they had hoped.

How Did They Spend the Rest of the Day?

Following the intimate ceremony, the newlyweds celebrated under the bright lights of Brighton pier. They returned home shortly after, just in time for the festive season.
 
The couple initially kept quiet about their trip to the south coast, so that they could surprise their nearest and dearest with the news on Christmas Eve. Although 2020 had been challenging, everybody had plenty to smile about when tucking into their Christmas dinner.
